Tremulous is a free, team-based FPS. There are two races to choose from: Humans and Aliens. Your main objective to kill all enemy teammembers and make them unable to spawn by destroying their spawn points. Tremulous contains elements of an RTS-game, allowing you to build structures which have different functions and purpose. Some structures are meant to defend the base and kill enemies, and others are meant to provide you with weapons or upgrades or just a safe place.

 

Player advancement is different depending on which team you are playing. As a a human, players are rewarded with credits for killing aliens. These credits may be used to purchase new weapons, armour or upgrades. The alien team advances quite differently. Upon killing a human foe, aliens are rewarded by 'frags' (called 'evos' in-game) which can be used to evolve into a new class with new abilities and purpose.
